DENSITY FLOATS
- Used in density-gradient
columns for density determinations of solutions or solids, with an accuracy
of better than 0.05%.
- Each Float, accurate to
+0.0002 gms/cc, is calibrated to a specific density and will remain
suspended in a solution of a similar density.
- Density Floats are 5 to
6 mm spheres, calibrated at 23°C.
- Density Floats are supplied in a variety of colors, including: blue,
yellow, clear, green, red, amber.
PRICES
.7000 - 1.5999 gms/cc
1.6000 - 2.1000 gms/cc
APPLICATION
- Calibrated glass Density
Floats are introduced into a liquid column exhibiting a density gradient,
at a constant temperature.
- The
calibrated Floats will descend in the liquid until they stabilize at
the level where their density is the same as that of the liquid.
- A calibration chart may
then be drawn from the relationships between the suspended Density Floats.
Determinations of test sample densities may then be determined by their
relationships to the Density Floats either graphically or by calculation,
according to ASTM D-1505.
